Islington Extension
Extensions Islington, London 2010
The property is situated in the heart of a conservation area in Islington, London. The planning authority was restrictive in terms of extension height, which lead to the project being designed with a flat roof. The client's wish involved extending into the rear garden with a contemporary approach, providing a contrast to the traditional design and materials of the existing house. The brief demanded an extension that would bring the garden into the home. The result is a curved cedar boarded structure with glazed sliding doors. Internally, in addition to an ensuite bedroom, a large kitchen/dining and family social space is created which leads out to the garden through the sliding doors.
