Dwellings Brighouse, Calderdale 2016
We secured planning permission for the demolition of an existing bungalow and the construction of two contemporary new-build homes. One house was designed for the clients’ own use, while the second was intended for sale.
Our brief was to create a pair of dwellings that would positively contribute to the street scene, incorporating contemporary design elements and materials. This was achieved through bold architectural features such as a cantilevered glazed entrance and staircase, along with distinctive window forms that echo the angles of the gable verges.
Internally, the design prioritises natural light and a sense of openness. Expansive glazing, combined with a ridge roof window, ensures the main living spaces are bright and airy throughout the day.
